Menges hits hole-in-one

CALLICOON –– After approximately 35 years of experience playing the game of golf, Cindy Menges, who plays with her mother, Shirley Buddenhagen, in the Villa Roma Thursday Night Ladies League, hit her first hole-in-one on June 24.

The magical shot occurred at the ninth hole, which coincidentally enough was also the one chosen that night by Villa Roma Director of Golf and Pro Matt Kleiner for the Closest to the Pin competition.

“I was shocked,” Menges said of the hole-in-one. “I was very fortunate to see it happen. In golf you sometimes see something you think is stupendous, but when you get up to the hole, it isn’t that much.

“It was kind of dumb luck,” she continued. “I hit a gorgeous shot and thought it was going to be nice.”

A nice outcome of landing close to the pin is one thing, but to make a hole-in-one is another. Congrats to Cindy on the accomplishment.
