Monticello student wins state trap league award

Posted

MONTICELLO - Monticello High School Junior Kaitlyn Miller has been awarded by the New York State High School Clay Target League for having the highest average for a female shooter in her school team's conference for the Fall 2020 season.

She was also recognized for having the 3rd highest average for a female competitor in all of New York State. Coach Jay Mendels noted that this is Monticello's 4th school year as part of the League. Schools from all over the state participate at their home range and then scores are submitted online.

Monticello had 22 students registered for this past fall, and conferences are set up so that schools compete against other schools of similar size.

At the end of the fall season (which ran from September through the beginning of November) the league recognizes the outstanding athletes in each conference. Mendels added, “Kaitlyn has gotten to be quite a role model for the other students with her drive and determination. We're extremely proud of what she's accomplished and how far she's advanced over the past few years.”
