National Day of Giving

HUDSON VALLEY - Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, The Martin Luther Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a National Day of Service – a “day on, not a day off.”

The national holiday, part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative, calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”

In towns across the county, community volunteers from various organizations including the Sullivan County Democratic Committee have organized various service events that exemplify the values Dr. King championed, honor his legacy and tackle the challenges our communities are facing. Volunteers and Democratic Committee members from seven towns are engaging in activities to unite in service regardless of party to help our communities prosper and thrive.

Please join us in honoring a Civil Rights leader who manifested some of America’s best values in his work by committing to a volunteer opportunity today.
