Nestor Mir of Swan Lake, NY, a long-time area resident, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 with his family at his side. He was 88.

The son of the late Jose and Maria Fernandez Mir, he was born September 8, 1932 in Banes, Cuba.

Nestor had worked for Local Union #32B as a commercial building maintenance; he was a communicant of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time outside in his garden; he wrote poems and songs.

Survivors include his wife, Emilia S. Mir, at home; one son, Robert J. Mir and his wife Ann of Liberty, NY; one daughter, Araceli E. Mir-Pontier and her husband Glenn of Barryville, NY; one sister, Luz Pinacho of Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren, Bryan Useo, Jason Parker, Christopher Useo, Nicole Slevin Nikolados, Tanya Mir, Brianna Mir, Hannah Mir, and Elena Mir; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Oscar Mir; two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.  Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM.

Graveside service and burial will be Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
