New roof in Rockland

ROSCOE –– The Town of Rockland Justice Court, located on Old Route 17 in Roscoe, has a new roof courtesy of a $50,000 Silver Feather Award, secured through Sullivan Renaissance and Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther’s office in 2008.

According to Rockland Town Supervisor Rob Eggleton, the award was originally for the cobbling of sidewalks in Roscoe, but since the project was completed before everything was in order with the grant, the funds, which were initially put up by the Town, couldn’t be reimbursed for that project.

With the Justice Court roof project, however, the Town did meet all the criteria. According to Eggleton, there was a leak in the old roof that went into the NYS Police barracks within the building, causing some mold issues in the backroom.

Eggleton estimates that the new roof with shingles should last 20-25 years.
