SULLIVAN COUNTY — On Thursday September 30th at 4:55 PM, Monticello PO Justin Dawson, while on patrol observed a vehicle that was stationary at a green traffic light located at the intersection of Broadway and Bank Street in the Village of Monticello.

The operator of the vehicle, who was a 62 year-old Monticello man, appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel. PO Dawson stopped his patrol vehicle and upon investigating found that the driver was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. PO Dawson and LT Mark Johnstone pulled the driver away from the vehicle and working together, immediately began performing CPR in the roadway.
