Patricia “Dee” Holpp of Kingston, New York, passed away at Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York, on July 3, 2023.

The daughter of the late Frederick “Fred” Holpp and Johanna “Jane” Cash Holpp, and sister to the late Kathryn McCausland, Dee was born in Roscoe, New York, in 1938. She was 85 years of age.

Dee was a beloved aunt, survived by five nieces, one nephew and their spouses, Jeanmarie and Robert Silsbe, Roscoe, New York, Marilee and Stephen Humphrey, Poland, Maine, Alicia Carroll, Roscoe, New York, Deanna McCausland, Hazlet, New Jersey, John McCausland and Linda Petríková, New York, New York, Grace and Fred Harvey, Leonardo, New Jersey, along with three great-nieces and one great-nephew, Elizabeth Harvey, Durham, North Carolina, Jeanmarie Humphrey, Poland, Maine, Annalise Barker, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Kenneth Humphrey, Poland, Maine.

Dee graduated from Roscoe Central School, Roscoe, New York, before moving to Kingston, New York, to pursue nursing at Our Lady of Victory School of Nursing. After graduating, Dee went on to have a 40+ year career as a Registered Nurse, caring for thousands of patients at Benedictine Hospital and Kingston Hospital in Kingston, New York, until her retirement in 2006. While working as an RN, Dee earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Saint Mary’s College, Newburgh, New York.

Dee was an integral part of the family’s life, present at every family milestone, celebration and gathering (big or small) throughout the years. Dee was considered the family photographer, an avid reader, a good listener, loved chocolate, coffee and travel, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and genuinely cared for cats, dogs and local wildlife, especially those in need. Dee was always ready for a trip to Sandy Hook beach in the summer or Tennanah Lake any time.

Dee, as a lifelong religious devotee to Christ and The Virgin Mary, will be remembered for all her kind acts she had with her family and all those who have encountered  her; she will very much be missed.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Saint Mary’s Church, Obernburg, New York, Father George E. Baker, officiant. Burial immediately following the Mass in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

In place of flowers, please send memorial contributions in Dee’s name to Saint Mary’s Church, 386 County Road 95, Obernburg, New York 12767.
