Patricia S. Furstman, of Youngsville, NY, a long-time Callicoon resident, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Westchester Medical Center from complications following surgery. She was 77, one day shy of her 78th birthday.
The daughter of the late Susanne Hernstorf Plunkett and Francis P. Plunkett, she was born December 23, 1944, in Manhattan, NY.
Pat was raised in Queens, NY. Much of her youth was spent at Astoria Pool, a true family affair where both of her parents, sister, aunt, and several cousins all worked, played, or competed at. Pat was a competitive swimmer at the pool and was once considered an Olympic hopeful.
Pat was a member of the Hortonville Ladies Auxiliary, a co-owner of the Potters Place ceramics shop in Hortonville, and co-coordinator of the Parent Picture Committee at the former Delaware Valley Central School. Pat was known for having an open door and sharing her home and heart with all that needed a little extra care. She was known for having a great decorative eye, and a green thumb. Pat maintained beautiful gardens, and would always make ordinary events extra special with her creative touch.
She was always up for an adventure. She loved spending time at her camper in the Thousand Islands, and had great plans to get up there a lot next summer.
Survivors include her children Edward Kestler and his wife Lori, Susanne Kestler Mullally and her husband Brian; and Frank Furstman; her stepchildren: Jacqueline Furstman-Biscardi, Teddy Furstman and his wife JoAnne, and Kristine Furstman McMenamy and husband Marc. Her grandchildren, Kevin Mullally and his wife Nicole, Kelly Mullally and Michael Scullion, Patrick Mullally, Brian Mullally and his wife Jackie, Bobby Biscardi, Tyler Bernitt and his wife Mandy, Lily, Mia, August, Theo, Theodore, and Nicholas Furstman, and two great-grandsons, Logan and Oliver Mullally. She is also survived by sister Geri Mott and her husband Larry, niece Christine Mazzoli Conklin, in-laws Rosemary and Richard Rash, former husband and good friend Edward (Charlie) Kestler and his wife, Beverly, and very dear friends Bob and Linda Kays. sister-in-law Victoria Kestler; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with many who lovingly referred to her as “Mom,” “Ma,” Gram,” or “Aunt Patty”.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Theodore Furstman, brother–in–law Andrew Kestler, and nephew Michael Mazzoli.
Although we have faith that Mom is at peace in Heaven, we are heartbroken and will miss her terribly.
At Pat’s wishes services will be private. A celebration of life will be planned for the summer of 2023.
