On October 20, 2022 Richard (Dickie) H. Brown, Jr. of Sparrow Bush, NY passed away peacefully at the age of 79.

Richard was born to Richard and Agnes Brown on October 5, 1943. After high school, Richard worked at Shopwell until  he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served 3 years during the Vietnam War. 

Once he returned home from serving his country, he resumed working at Shopwell, from which he then worked driving a mail truck to later on becoming a Corrections Officer. After 25 years as a Corrections Officer, he retired. Richard was also a volunteer firefighter for White Lake and Monticello Fire Departments.

Richard was interested in construction and wood work. During his down time Richard built the addition on his home in Monticello, NY. After retirement he enjoyed sudoku puzzle books, spending time with family and friends, and going out to eat at diners to talk with everyone he met.

Richard is predeceased by his father Richard, mother Agnes, his sister Helen Louise and his wife Kathy. He is survived by his four children, Ricky Brown of South Fallsburg, NY, Randy Brown of Liberty, NY, Chris Brown and wife Danielle of Largo, FL and Fallon Simmons and husband Aaron. Richard also has siblings, Elizabeth Brown of Leicester, NC, Judy Brown Huska of Apopka, FL, Ralph and Jackie Brown of White Lake, NY, Barbara Cole and partner Steve Sprague of Daytona Beach, FL, Donald and Frances Foster of Serrento, FL, Raymond and Paula Brown/Weber of Narrowsburg, NY, James C. Brown of Monticello, NY and Kathleen Brandes of Greenfield Park, NY, and grandchildren Brian, Michael, Devin, Jonathan, Brandon, Brianna, Leigha, Connor, Katie and Jaidon.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 6-9 p.m., at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, with a military service at 8 p.m. followed by a funeral service with the Rev. Dave Coon.
