Riverfest set for July 24

Summer is here, and we are counting the days until the DVAA’s 32nd annual Riverfest on Main Street in Narrowsburg! This street festival features a Dog Parade, Art Poster Auction, Artisan Market, Live Performances, Kids Activities, and much more. Attracting far-flung visitors with a full day of art and activities surrounded by breathtaking scenery in the picturesque river town of Narrowsburg, this free event will take place on Sunday, July 24, from 10 am to 4 pm, rain or shine.

The day starts at 10 am with the return of River Dogs on Parade. Emceed by Kevin McDonough, who will be providing colorful commentary, this is a “don’t miss opportunity” for your pup (or faux pup) to strut their stuff before a panel of judges, Greg Triggs, Donna Fellenberg, and Dean Scharf as well as a jubilant crowd. Register your dog in advance ($10) by calling DVAA at (845) 252-7576 or sign up at 9 am in front of Narrowsburg Feed & Grain.

Over 45 Artisan Market Booths will be featured, with handcrafts in wood, ceramics, textiles, jewelry, and stone, and fine art mediums of printmaking, photography, sculpture, and painting.

The DVAA will once again host a kids’ activity tent where creative youth can craft their very own Riverfest posters.

The Riverfest Poster Auction, the centerpiece of the day, takes place at 1 p.m. on the main stage. Over 60 original, one-of-a-kind posters created by local artists will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. Artworks will be displayed in DVAA’s gallery window and storefronts up and down Main Street. Catch a preview of the art posters online and begin bidding in advance of the live auction. For more information, visit delawarevalleyartsalliance.org/riverfest. Proceeds support DVAA’s programs in the visual arts and participating artists.

In the morning, families are invited to a swashbuckling show of sea chanteys by The Royal Yard from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Then, at 12:30 p.m., Farm Arts Collective performs their unique blend of street theater on Main Street with a production of “Dream on the River.” Following the live Poster Auction, dance in the street to Latin Rhythms with DJ Jamie and the Matt Hernandez Dance Studio Dancers.

Visitors are treated to delicacies and inventive foods ranging from classic sausage & peppers, and seafood plates to newer offerings like “tartes flambées” and spaetzle. Traditional street fair favorites will be on hand with plenty to satisfy your sweet tooth like cupcakes and funnel cakes. Plus, Narrowsburg’s spectacular eateries will be open for business throughout the day.

JEFF Bank is Riverfest’s 2022 Sponsor and WJFF Radio Catskill is Media Sponsor. Additional support comes from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, DVAA’s members, our 2022 Business Supporters, and individuals.
