Robert C. (Bob) Buckles, retired sales representative with Metropolitan Life Insurance and owner of R.C. Buckles Realty, Monticello, NY passed away at home on Monday, January 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was 91.
The son of the late Robert J. Buckles Sr. and Lucille McGuire Buckles, he was born May 15, 1933 in Brooklyn. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob was a proud US Army Veteran and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He had an array of artistic abilities – from painting, to drawing, and to building his signature birdhouses.
He was a beloved chef for all of his family and anyone who had the privilege of tasting his trademark dishes. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, with whom he shared food, laughter and holiday traditions.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Stainbrook Buckles, at home: his children Robin Buckles of Monticello, Robert Buckles and his wife Daniella of Rock Hill, Brent Buckles and his wife Georgia of Ocean View, DE, and Susan Buckles of Syracuse. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by two beloved nieces Karen Michel of Grahamsville and Kathy Moore of Liberty, the daughters of his younger sister Norine Michel of Grahamsville, NY who predeceased him.
Visitation will be held February 8 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a funeral service starting at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.
