Robert H. Huebner, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his home in Monticello. He was 88. The son of the late Robert Huebner and Mabel Covart Huebner, he was born October 28, 1935, in Port Jervis, NY.
A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob was a retired General Line Foreman with NYSEG. He was also active in our community for many years being a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Monticello, a former Past Commander of the American Legion, and a member of both the Monticello Kiwanis Club (45 years) and Monticello Elks Lodge #1544 (54 years) and a member of the Hagen Hunting Club (55 years). He truly enjoyed serving in these community organizations. He also worked at the Boston Red Sox training facility in Fort Myers, Florida for 27 years.
Bob was well liked and respected by all who had the privilege to know him. He was very proud of his family, loved spending time with his grandchildren and was grateful to be able to meet and enjoy his great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his three sons: Robert Huebner and his wife Tracey of Wallingford, CT, Thomas Huebner and his wife Christine of Plattsburgh, NY, and Gary Huebner and his wife Doreen of Monticello; a daughter-in-law: Patti Huebner of Kauneonga Lake, NY; three brothers: Ralph and his wife Pearl, Ken and his wife Carol, and Charlie and his wife Karen; seven grandchildren; Erik, Ryan (Lauren), Alea, Caitlin (Jordan), Wade (Christina), Morgan, and Brooke; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Daniel; grandson Daniel and his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. An Elks service will be held at approximately 1:15pm and a prayer service will start at 1:30pm with Fr. Bob Porpora officiating. Burial of his ashes with military honors will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
