Ronald J. Menges of Liberty, NY, born on January 1, 1935 to William A. Menges, Sr. and Mary (Toth) Menges in Youngsville, NY, passed away one day after his 86th birthday on January 2, 2021. Ron was the devoted husband to Nancy (Yaun) Menges for nearly 63 years.

Ron graduated from Youngsville Central School where his dependable hook shot allowed the small school's basketball team to remain competitive with its rivals. During the Korean War, he enrolled in the US Navy's electrician's school and after serving his military commitment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, he spent the majority of his professional career as a self-employed electrician. Ron enjoyed Sullivan County's outdoor splendor whether playing nine holes on the local links, calling ducks in the swamp, water skiing on Kauneonga Lake, perching in his reliable deer stand, boiling maple sap with the Yaun family, or luring a bass from under the lily pads. He always took pleasure incorporating family and friends in all of his recreational pursuits.

Ron is survived by his wife Nancy, son Keith Menges & wife Cindy, daughter Kathleen DeNaro & husband Mark, and granddaughters Amanda DeNaro & fiancé Sean Kunkel, Kendall Menges, and Tiffany DeNaro. Ron was predeceased by his parents and brothers William Menges, Jr. and Robert Menges, plus his aunt Rose Menges who helped raise the three boys when their mother died prematurely.

The family thanks those who tended to Ron's needs over the past year, particularly his personal caregivers Anne Germain and Valerian Care, LLC, as well as the Sullivan County Adult Care Center.

Due to COVID-19, interment will be private at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY. The family may choose to have a celebration of Ron's life at a more appropriate time.

Donations in Ron's memory can be made to the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition, 9 Hanover Drive, Monticello, NY 12701.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home. To leave condolence please visit stewartmurphyfh.com.
