Ruth A. Price, a former Rutherford Elementary School computer instructor and lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Harris. She was 80.

Ruth was born on September 14th, 1940 in Monticello, NY, daughter of the late Cornelius J. Avery and Margaret Hulse Avery. She was the widow of her husband John E. Price who predeceased her on April 15, 2010 whom she shared an inseparable love with during their 50-year marriage.

Ruth was known by her closest family as “Gram” or “Aunt Ruth”. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph's Church, and later in life, St. Thomas Aquinas in Forestburgh. As a youth, Ruth was an avid ice skater and played for the Dutch's Angels in her local women's softball league. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, playing a game of cards, or going to Bingo with her younger sister Marjorie “Sis” Price. If asked, she would tell you her most important focus in life was always her family. She held a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and the numerous youth she taught and guided on a daily basis in the Monticello Central School District. Raising children was not only her greatest joy but also her proudest accomplishment.

She is survived by three sons: John C. Price (Cathy), Duane Price (Jeannine) and James Price; daughter: Kari Price (Briano); grandchildren: Tanya, Danielle, Jennifer, Cordnelius, John E., and Connor Sr.; great-grandchildren: Annette, Michael, Brian, Jamieson, Alessia, Skarlet, Violet, Ivy, Connor Jr., Austin, and Levi; siblings: Cornelius Avery (Elaine) and David Avery (Debra); as well as many special nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Price.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Due to the current health crisis, social distancing guidelines must be met - a limited number of people at one time will be allowed in the funeral home, and facemasks are required. Interment of her ashes will be held at the Budd Cemetery in Monticello at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to KL Rutherford's Backpack Program, payable to “The KLR Sunshine Fund”, 26 Patricia Place, Monticello, NY 12701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.ken
