LAKE HUNTINGTON – Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday when they were little girls? Can you remember their first day of high school or the first time they put on a Sullivan West uniform and took to the basketball court? Well for Lady Bulldog seniors Lanie Herbert, Felicity Bauernfeind, Georgeanne Cardona, Paige Muzuruk and Anna Bernas, this occasion of their last regular season home game defined the passage of time and the wonderful memories accrued therein.
As the Senior Night recognition got underway on February 11, each girl was called to center court, flowers in hand, flanked by parents for that epic moment that denoted the time on the hardwood is nearly at an end. This has been quite a year for the now 11-4 Lady Westies following their matter of fact 50-11 victory over winless Roscoe.
For Coach Pat Donovan, this was a chance to give all his players minutes. The Lady Bulldogs will have at least one more game at home come sectionals given their league record. That will be their real home sendoff, though no doubt their loyal friends and family will follow them through the Section IX Class C tournament as far as they can go.
