The Believable Resurrection of Jesus!

Posted

A young boy returned home and proceeded to tell his mom what he learned in Sunday School about Jesus’ Resurrection.  He said, “Jesus was captured by the enemy, and they hid Him in a cave surrounded by land mines!  Don’t worry mom, SEAL Team 6 found Him, broke Him out, and He’s back in Heaven!

His mother stopped him, asked, “Now, Billy, is that really what your teacher taught you?”

He replied, “Well, no Mom, but if I told you what REALLY happened, you’d never believe it!”

Allow me to share three fully BELIEVABLE Truths of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which we celebrate this Resurrection Sunday !

• Jesus death and resurrection defeated mankind’s bondage to sin once and for all!

God’s Word states that “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23), and “the punishment for sin is death” (Romans 6:23).  The Good News is that even in the midst of mankind’s sinful rebellion, Jesus became the “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”  (John 1:29)  Through the resurrection of Jesus we can now live in FREEDOM from sin, allowing us to overcome bondage to evil.

• Through Jesus death and resurrection, every Word and every promise Jesus made was now stamped FULFILLED with Heaven’s approval !

At last count there are over 7000 promises from God to humankind in His Word.  All of  which show God’s love for us, including the greatest promise of all from the Gospel of John 3:16-17:  For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

This is the great promise of Salvation through Christ.  Let the words of the Apostle Paul, penned in Romans 10:9, be your prayer this Resurrection day:  9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

• Jesus death and resurrection confirms that death loses, and LIFE (everlasting with Jesus) WINS!

King David embraced the Truth that under the Shepherd’s leading he can “walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” (Psalm 23:4)  Our Good Shepherd Jesus’ resurrection confirmed that this life is not our true “home” and “death” is not our final destination.  We’re sojourners on this earth, just passing through to the heavenly place Jesus has prepared for those who put their hope and trust in Him.

The Resurrection of Jesus may seem “too wonderful to believe,” but take the time this Resurrection Season to once again be filled with the awe and wonder of this text:

Why do you look for the living among the dead?

He is not here; He has Risen! (Luke 24: 5-6)

The stone that sealed Jesus’ tomb was rolled away that day not to let Jesus OUT – but to welcome us IN – into RELATIONSHIP with our victorious, RISEN Lord.

May the Lord Bless you and keep you on this Resurrection Day !
