The Garden brings creativity and self expression

Posted

In December, three local women joined together after knowing each other through school and through using each other’s services and decided to rent a space together.

The Garden is made up of three small businesses that showcase each of these women’s talents. Opened in December and located at 100B Sullivan St in Wurtsboro, this space features Finessed by Jess, Untold Arts and Beauty Mark that each aim to allow clients to be creative and express themselves.

Finessed by Jess

Jessica Falco owns Finessed by Jess and provides nail services, teeth whitening, and tooth gems. Falco grew up in Wurtsboro and graduated from SUNY Cortland with a psychology degree before becoming licensed by the Long Island Nail Skin & Hair Institute in manicure services. Falco mainly centers her business around nail care and offers acrylic, gel, dip powder and basic manicures.

Aside from her nail business, she has been building up her teeth whitening and tooth gems clientele.

Additionally, Falco noted that many people do not know about tooth gems, and she aims to get the word out. Tooth gems are Swarovski crystals, gems, or diamonds that are bonded to a tooth in the same way braces would be using a UV light to cure it. Falco explained there is no drilling involved and gems are removable.

Falco said it is “refreshing to have something new” in Wurtsboro.

Falco typically works by appointment only. Those who are interested in making an appointment can text 845-707-9357, direct message on Instagram (@getfinessedbyJess or @finessedbyJess), and can book an appointment through her website, www.finessedbyjess.com. Falco said she sometimes takes walk-ins for tooth gems because they are quick to do and can be done in between appointments.

Untold Arts

Jasmine Hall operates the creative space known as Untold Arts mainly as a private tattoo studio and a space to draw and paint. Hall was also raised in Wurtsboro and graduated from Liberty High School. After attending college, Hall decided to set her sights on becoming a licensed tattoo artist. Upstate New York does not require a license, according to Hall, but she has been licensed through New York City, and has completed her bloodborne pathogen course. She also completed her apprenticeship through Tattooing 101, which is an online apprenticeship that connects future tattoo artists with experienced tattoo artists while teaching the fundamentals and safety procedures.

Hall explained that she has always been passionate about art and drawing growing up because even when she was in hard times, she always had a paper and pencil to draw.

She has developed her work over the years and now works to share her art with the community.

“People appreciate masterpieces on their body” and art makes “people feel better,” Hall said.

Clients can call or text 845-707-9396, and people can see follow her on Instagram (@Untold_arts_) and on Facebook (Untold Arts by Japan) for an appointment.

Beauty Mark

Jamie DiLeo runs the salon where she works as a hair stylist. She does highlights, haircuts, perms, updos, color, and styles for events like weddings, sweet 16s, proms, and more. She also is certified in eyelash extensions.

DiLeo grew up in Sullivan County and graduated from Monticello High School. DiLeo recently graduated from Capri Cosmetology in Newburgh, New York and is certified in eyelash extensions through Bella Lash.

DiLeo explained that she wanted to do hair her entire life. She always styled and cut her Barbie dolls’ and American Girl dolls’ hair much to her mother’s dismay, DiLeo explained.

Her passion for hair extends to the older woman who wants a perm to the younger generation who are finding new trends on TikTok every day, and she said she loves bringing these connections and as well as her creativity to the community through hair.

Clients can use the Square app to book, pay, and text her for an appointment. People can also call 833-239-6885 or email Beautymark444@gmail.com. She can also be reached through Instagram and Facebook (@Beautymark444).
