PHILADELPHIA –

Tri-Valley’s Furmans Crowned All-Americans!

After a historic 2024–2025 running season, siblings Van and Anna Furman capped it off in spectacular fashion—earning All-American honors at the prestigious New Balance Nationals, held at the iconic Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania.

With their standout performances, Van and Anna become just the third and fourth Tri-Valley steeplechase runners in school history to win a New York State championship and be crowned All-American in the same year.

They join an elite group that includes Heather Iatauro—a three-time All-American in 2002, 2003, and 2004—and coach, Travis Wolfe, who achieved the honor in 2005.

Tri-Valley’s steeplechase legacy runs deep, tracing back to Chip Furman, father of Van and Anna, who claimed two state titles in the event in the early 1990s. Now, the next generation is carrying the torch—and setting new records.

Van Furman, wrapping up his high school career as the most decorated male athlete in school history with seven state titles, placed 5th in the nation on Saturday night with a blazing time of 5:52.98, breaking Wolfe’s long-standing school record of 6:04 set in 2005. Van, is headed to Georgetown this fall.

Anna Furman, already the school record holder in the steeplechase, earned her All-American status with a 6th-place finish, clocking 6:52.89. This incredible track season follows their Class D state cross country championship wins this past fall in Queensbury, NY. Winning seems to run in the family!

Kane “The Prodigy” Poje Shines in the Hammer Throw

Meanwhile, Kane Poje, the sophomore sensation nicknamed “The Prodigy,” held his own on the national stage, placing 30th overall in the boys hammer throw with a toss of 183’-2”, just shy of his personal best.

Impressively, Kane was the second-highest placing sophomore in a field dominated by upperclassmen. Kane has been on a tear all year and is quickly establishing himself as one of the country’s top young throwers in the weight throw, shot put, and hammer events.

With stars like Van, Anna, and Kane leading the way—and the steady guidance of head coaches Tyler Eckoff and Skylar Musa—Tri-Valley’s track and field future is as bright as ever.

2024–2025 was one for the record books. Stay tuned for 2025–2026.
