Thomas (Tom) Brennan

Sadly, Thomas (Tom) Brennan, of Jeffersonville, NY passed away September 26, 2022, unexpectedly. He was 51. The son of Ann Rutledge Brennan and the late William Brennan, Jr., he was born November 8,1970 in Liberty, NY.

Tom grew up in Jeffersonville, N.Y., graduating from Jeffersonville-Youngsville High School in 1988. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Albany and a master’s degree in Theatre Arts from Mike Nichol’s New Actors Workshop. Tom was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, appearing in several movies and television productions including the movie “War of the Worlds” and the television series “The Sopranos”. 

He was a founder of the Bootstrap Players in Albany, NY, performing Shakespearean comedy in theatres, bars and parks, usually accompanied by a rock band. He appeared in productions with the Saratoga Shakespeare Company, the Utah Shakespeare festival and in countless local and community theatre productions in the Albany area and beyond. He was a committed member of Albany’s improv community, and a committed advocate for local performance art in all its forms, through his entire life.

Tom loved entertaining, and organized activities and entertainment for generations of guests at the Villa Roma resort. He loved his fishing trips with family and friends and was a charter member of the “Montauk Catch & Cook Club”.  He loved his dog Kate, who predeceased him.

Tom was predeceased by his father, William Brennan Jr., and is survived by his mother, Ann Rutledge Brennan, and several siblings and their spouses – William (Michelle), Keith (Dana), Valorie (Kurt), Steven (Maria) and Mark (Kristi). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Althea, Eudora, Neil, Wyatt, and Patrick, who he spoiled unconditionally.

Tom loved a gathering, and family and friends meant everything to him. Friends may call on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11 AM at St. George’s Church, Jeffersonville, NY. Father Roland Raj will officiate. 

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
