True Feelings About Thanksgiving

Posted

In two days we sit down to eat the traditional Thanksgiving dinner including the cranberries, candied yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, turkey and ham and I also crave and enjoy having my family with me.

The attached photo with this column was taken a few years ago and it indeed has a special meaning particularly when we remember our age and how the years go quickly by.

We all love our children, grandchildren and if your lucky great-grandchildren and getting together for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner allows us and other families time to gather and give thanks for the many blessings enjoyed.

What comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving?

I’d like to think of family gatherings giving time of thankfulness toward God but of course along with these thoughts there is some partying, great meals to eat, watching the gridiron contests and giving thanks for our families.

Today we would like to give credit for all we have.

The pilgrims of long ago had strong beliefs that were firmly born in the realization of God’s presence and intervention in their daily lives.

Thanksgiving Day began because of this belief…it is a day dedicated to giving thanks to God for the many things we often take for granted.

Before you and your family enjoy Thanksgiving dinner, be sure to take time to truly thank God in prayer and thought for all he has given this nation.
