THOMPSON — Thursday morning, June 29, New York State Police reported that two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 17 eastbound in the Town of Thompson. According to the NYS Police, Wurtsboro barracks responded to the incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Toyota Sienna was disabled on the right shoulder. Levi Mann, age 69 of Liberty, and William Mann, age 20 of Cochecton, reportedly stepped outside the vehicle.
Reports state that a 2013 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound when the opeator of the vehicle, later identified as Akeem Small, age 26, of Monticello, lost control and struck several guardrails before hitting both victims. Both victims were transported to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown.
They each reportedly sustained multiple external and internal injuries and are listed in serious condition.
A NY State Police accident reconstruction team was called onto the scene to investigate the crash.
