Vallone tapped for IDA board

SULLIVAN COUNTY –– Phil Vallone, President of Rolling V Transportation Services, was appointed to the County of Sullivan Industrial Development Agency (IDA) Board by legislators on Thursday.

“Having served on the Uniform Tax Exemption Policies (UTEP) review committee, it was very apparent that a lot of people really didn’t understand fully how the IDA works and the benefit that it could bring when used properly. I got an education myself,” said Vallone. “The IDA is guided by a very clear mission statement that should be the basis for all the decisions that are ultimately made."

“There are a lot of smart, well-intentioned people on that board,” he continued. “I am honored that they considered my request to join them. As an independent thinker I look forward to the healthy debates that undoubtedly occur when considering projects that should be in the best interest of Sullivan County.”

On Vallone’s appointment, Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Robert A. Doherty told the Democrat, “Phil has successfully run his family business, Rolling V, through good times and bad, expanding it as he went along. As a businessman myself, I know how difficult it can be just to keep the lights on, and his transportation empire has grown and thrived thanks to his and his staff’s ingenuity. So I think he’ll bring that practical aptitude and can-do attitude to the IDA.”
