Virginia (Ginny) Ziegler, 85, passed away on January 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Ginny was the daughter of Ivan and Virginia Green, and was raised in San Diego, California until the age of 18, when she met her husband Andy and moved to the East Coast.

She was married to the love of her life, Andrew G. Ziegler, for 60 years. She was a loving mother and wife, and the home they created was filled with care and laughter. Andy and Ginny raised eight children, and their busy home was frequently filled with friends and neighbors, grandchildren and relatives, co-workers and her children’s college pals. Always the gracious hostess, Ginny welcomed everyone with an open heart and enthusiasm

She was a gifted artist, and expressed her creativity through gardening, decorative floral arranging, writing letters in her beautiful handwriting, and documenting family history through meticulously curated photo albums. Ginny’s flare for decorating and love of celebration made every holiday memorable. She loved spending time with her lifelong friends and enjoyed getting to know people wherever she traveled.

Preceded by her husband in death, she is survived by her loving brother and sister: Thomas Green and Mary Search, by her children Mary Mossman and husband Mel, Susanne Ziegler, Patricia Ziegler, Andrew Ziegler Jr. and wife Ikuko, Thomas Ziegler and wife Aree, Jane Whipple, Christina Ziegler and husband Sean Ward, and Jennifer Ziegler.

She is also preceded in death by her grandson Miuji Ziegler and survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jennifer Buley and husband Ulf Almqvist, Joah Buley, Leah Buley and husband Chris Vargas, Andrew Ziegler III and wife Debra, Heather Murray and partner James Eustis, Ian Murray, Yumeko Ziegler, Kenta Ziegler, Henry Whipple, Claire Whipple, Eliza Whipple, Beau Logston, Nova Ziegler, Abigail Ziegler, Theo Vargas, Frances Vargas and Morgan Eustis.

Ginny is also survived by several loving godchildren, nieces and a nephew, and cousins, each of whom was an important part of her life.

The family will be holding a memorial service at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Labre Indian School, a longtime favorite charity of Ginny’s. It can be reached at www.stlabre.org/ways-to-give/
