Wanted: Two-year-old lost cow

KENOZA LAKE –– Dave Slater, who has a farm in Kenoza Lake, is looking for his lost two-year-old female White Park Beef Cow since the weekend of June 26-27.

The cow, which has a orange number 15 tag in its left ear, disappeared sometime between that Saturday and Sunday, after it was moved to a new pasture up the road.

By Sunday night, she was up at Kenoza Lake Estates about a mile and a half away.

Dave and a friend have been looking for her but he said, “We don’t know where to look, a cow can travel quite a ways.”

She is a special kind of beef cow, because most are black and red, but she’s white.

“There’s only two herds of these cows in Sullivan County,” Slater said. “I have one and so does Mike Hahn.”
The cow was last spotted last Wednesday (June 30) on Burr Road which is about three-fourth of a mile from the farm.

Slater said if you see the cow, don’t try to walk up to it or catch it.

“It’ll get spooked,” he said.

If you find her, call Slater at 845-798-6784.
