Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory has been awarded a two year re-accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). The lab processes hundreds of thousands of tests annually and continually meets the rigorous and robust standards of the CAP, elevating quality and mitigating risks that directly contributes to improved patient outcome.
“Our laboratory team provides exceptional service on a daily basis. Each and every one, our clinical leaders and our newer techs, has earned this recognition,” Laboratory Manager John Romano said. Pathologist and Lab Director Sibyl Rickard, MD, and the lab staff at WMH and its satellite offices are involved in over 80% of the diagnoses physicians make and play a crucial role in the high standard of healthcare provided to the communities we serve.
During the onsite CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the lab’s records and quality control of procedures. Additionally, laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management is examined.
