ALBANY — On Tuesday, NY State Senator Peter Oberacker honored Sullivan County native Wendy Brown as the 2023 New York State Senate “Woman of Distinction” from the 51st Senate District.
“I am deeply moved for receiving this honor,” Brown said. “I am very grateful for my team who are a huge part of this achievement.”
She said that she “rarely ever gets gobsmacked but felt gobsmacked” when getting honored by Senator Oberacker and getting a chance to go out on the Senate floor.
Brown currently serves as Sullivan County’s Drug Task Force Coordinator and Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Health and Human Services.
“Wendy’s commitment, compassion and forward thinking are vital, and I am truly honored to recognize her as a New York State Senate Woman of Distinction,” Oberacker said.
Brown was appointed to her current position in 2021 and immediately worked on redesigning the agency. She brought the Hope Not Handcuffs program to Sullivan County and initiated the process to designate the county as a High Impact Drug Trafficking Area.
“Wendy Brown is an amazing role model, and I look forward to continuing to partner with her moving forward,” Oberacker added.
