What are you thankful for? I'm thankful for Libraries

This past year gave me a chance to pause and reflect on everything we take for granted. Our routines were forced to change, as were basic daily interactions. Hopefully, you do not take your favorite library for granted!

It was strange when everything closed down in the spring, but library staff was more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have had with your account or with library items.

We suggested you use our online resources including e-books and e-readers, some of which were suddenly available for free to the public. Recently the e-book collection has grown with new picture books, just in time for National Picture Book Month!

We were very happy to offer curbside pick up, and we want to also reiterate that if you are uncomfortable coming into the library, libraries are still offering it.

We were so happy to see you return to the building as fall approached, and in Livingston Manor we have new resources including a Bethel Woods Museum Family Pass.

Each library is most likely offering new services to meet its community needs, so be sure to check your library's website to see what programs and services are now being offered.

Many libraries are doing programs remote now, so be sure to check out your local library's social media profiles and online calendars. In Livingston Manor, we are still doing Story Time via Facebook Live.

We had done Outdoor Story Time during the fall, but we will probably return to doing it remotely to keep everyone warm and safe. There may be programs such as book clubs and even computer help via Zoom, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for upcoming library programs.

Libraries are still currently open and we would love to see you again, but please keep all COVID-19 restrictions before visiting. We are still living in this strange new world and have guidelines in place for your safety. Please be aware of all new policies including masks, patron limits and possibly more such as appointments for your safety.

While we do not know yet, this coming winter may be a difficult one and we will continue to offer the services. We are very grateful to the community we have and your patience, and hope you and your family stay healthy as the winter and holidays approach.
