William Ellsworth Wells, 95 of DeLeon Springs, passed away October 17, 2021. He was born in Monticello, New York on April 25, 1926. 

William was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. He loved horses, and he drove, trained and raced harness horses. 

William was a former Lion’s Club President and director for Volusia County Boy Scouts. He retired as presiding judge with the New York State Harness Racing Commission on January 7, 1987. 

He loved to travel and sports, especially basketball, bowling and baseball, having played semi-pro baseball and was even the MVP several times. 

He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Rose Marie. 

Survivors include son Richard Lee Wells, daughters Patricia Marie Wells and Nancy Wheeler, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Van Keuran Cemetery, Swan Lake, on August 6, 2022 at 1pm.
