William R. McMichael, Sr., retired electrical engineer of Roscoe, NY passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023.  Born on September 29, 1941 on Staten Island, to the late William McMichael and Betty Dolgoff.  He was 81 years old.

William “Bill” McMichael, formerly of Staten Island, was an avid horseman and the owner of Tall Pines Ranch as well as a member of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse.  He was a lover of music and a drummer in various bands. Bill was also a US Navy Veteran.  He graduated from McKee High School and Pratt Institute and later went on to become an electrical engineer for Procter and Gamble, from which he retired.

Once retired, Bill and his family moved to Roscoe, NY, where he helped his two sons open up two family businesses.  He was an active member of the Roscoe Community and Past President of the Roscoe Kiwanis Club.  Bill had a love of all things automotive, especially his prized possession, his ‘34 Ford.  He was a car show enthusiast, if he wasn’t at a car show, you could find him out in the woods, as he also loved the outdoors.

Bill is survived by his wife, Gayle Harvison McMichael; his daughter, Laurie Alexander and her husband Greg; son, Shawn McMichael and his wife Jillian; stepdaughter, Kristy Ward and her husband Stephen; stepson, Michael Smith; his brother, Stu McMichael and wife Lucinda; sister, Peggy Selway and husband Tom; sister, Bobbie Preto and husband Bob; granddaughter, Ashley McMichael and husband Anthony Moncion; granddaughter, Megan McMichael Rohrbach and husband Isaac Rohrbach; grandson, Hunter Ward; granddaughter, Paige Ward; great grandson, Anthony Moncion, Jr.; great granddaughter, Magnolia Rohrbach; in addition to nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is predeceased by his late wife, June Mary McMichael; one son, William R. McMichael, Jr., and his sister, Elizabeth “Bunny” Potts.

Visitation will be Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.   Funeral services will be at 7 PM in the funeral home.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
