Woodland Weavers to meet June 18

DAMASCUS – Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild will be meeting Saturday, June 18 at the Damascus Community Center, Conklin Hill Rd. Damascus, PA.

This month our program will be Dyeing with locally foraged plants, led by Annie Cadden. Our program begins at 1.

The spinning study group will meet at 9 am, followed by a social hour at 10. The business meeting will start at 11, followed by a bring your own lunch (coffee, tea and dessert will be provided) then our program. We welcome all to come!

WWSG is a teaching guild servicing Sullivan and Wayne counties, whose purpose is to share their knowledge of spinning and weaving all kinds of fiber, with programs at each meeting to teach these skills, as well as other types of fiber arts such as natural dyeing, felting, and care and use of spinning and weaving appliances.

Dues for the guild are $20 for the year, and $30 for a family membership. Membership is open to all ages and skill levels, for anyone who wants to learn these fiber arts, and the guild has some materials (such as a spinning wheel and several types of weaving looms, and other adjunct pieces) available for members to borrow while they learn. We have study groups that focus on spinning, weaving, and knitting, with those meetings held separately from the general meetings.

Meetings are held on the third Saturday of the month, April through November. Future meetings will feature Demonstrations at the Zane Grey Museum (July 16); Spinning wheel clinic with Barbara Lubeck (August 20); Weaving hacks, tips and tricks given by members (Sept. 17); Spin in, and tip sharing with members (Oct. 15); Cookie and ornament exchange, presentations by study groups (Nov.19).
