Your Library is bringing the Census to you at a Census Drive Thru!

The deadline to complete your 2020 Census is less than 30 days away. To assist you the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello has two dates coming up where the Census will come to you - that is - your car.

Library staff, Sullivan County Complete Count Committee members and a Census enumerator will have laptops at the ready that will be brought to you in the library parking lot Tuesday, September 15th from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Wednesday, September 23rd from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

You can complete the 2020 Census from the comfort of your own car. It only takes a few minutes; just a few more if you have more people living in your household. Those completing the Census at one of these drive-thru events will head off with some Census goodies.

The 10 minutes you spend filling out the Census will have repercussions for the delivery of services to residents of all ages and socioeconomic groups in Sullivan County for the next 10 years. We all have a lot to lose if we don't get an accurate count here and now. Time is running out. Do you know someone that receives Meals on Wheels? Complete your Census form for them. Someone who's child benefits from special education grants? Complete your Census form for them. Someone whose kids participate in the National School Lunch Program or who received a Federal Pell Grant for college? Complete your Census form for them.

Do you appreciate the funding that goes toward highway planning and construction? Complete your Census form because that matters to you. In fiscal year 2015 over $70 billion went toward Medicare Part B expenses through the Department of Health and Human Services.

You - or someone you know - relies upon the funds these programs receive from the Federal government. To receive that funding this County needs everyone counted.

The answers you provide are used only to produce statistics. You are kept anonymous: The Census Bureau is not permitted to publicly release your responses in any way that could identify you or anyone else in your home, so please do your part to at least maintain if not increase the amount of funding Sullivan County receives.

The Census can be completed online at my2020census.gov or over the phone and is available in many languages doing it either way. Call your local library. We are here to help. Most public libraries in the County have computers available for your use now, so call and find out when and how you can get yourself counted.
