Herman “Sonny” Bose, Jr. passed away  after a short illness on April 27, 2024. Sonny was born June 15, 1933 in  Bronx, NY to Herman Bose, Sr. and Ella Bohmicky Slezak Bose. Sonny moved with his family to Youngsville in 1944 making the farm on Menges Road his lifelong home. Sonny was a 1951 graduate of Youngsville School, the first unified school district in New York State.

An avid Yankees fan, Sonny also enjoyed NASCAR and playing Senior Softball. Sonny was a retired dairy farmer and licensed cattle dealer who took great pride in selling quality dairy cows.

Sonny treasured the lifelong business and personal friendships, of which there were many.

He was a 70 year member of the Youngsville Fire Department, a 55 year member of the Craigie Claire Sportsman’s Club, a proud member of the NRA and the Association of Livestock Dealers.

He is survived by his children: Tom (Debbie) Bose and Kathy (Allen) Werlau. His grandchildren: Ryan Bose, Erin (Derek) Johnson, and Rob (Rose) Werlau. His great-grandchildren: Logan, Bailey, Sadie, Ethan, Austin, Peyton and Cahl. Also survived by his niece Gaye McCafferty. He is also survived by his cherished family friend Jimmy Klein, who came to live with our family when he was sixteen years old and was a big part of our farm and cattle business success for many years.

Sonny was predeceased by his brother Steven Bose and his granddaughter Brenna Werlau Darling.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 5 to 8 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home Jeffersonville. Firematic services will be at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Friends may also call on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Bud LeConey will officiate.
