NARROWSBURG – Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA)’s Big Eddy Film Festival is a cinephile’s dream nestled in the heart of New York’s Sullivan Catskills. This year’s theme is ‘Stories From The Other Side’ and the schedule is a cinematic feast, taking in everything from Oscar-tipped narrative features to locally produced documentaries, several robust short film programs, an acting workshop with playwright and film director, Neil LaBute, and several of the festival’s legendary parties.
Reflecting on 15 years of the Big Eddy Film Festival, DVAA’s Executive Director, Ariel Shanberg notes,
“Our commitment to crafting an immersive festival that sparks new cultural possibilities at the juncture of film, art, and rural imagination has never been greater. This year’s programming reflects both deep-rooted traditions we’ve forged over the years along with exciting new possibilities and connections that will offer festival attendees a truly unforgettable cinematic experience here in Narrowsburg.”
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH
Countercurrent Shorts 4pm Filmmaker Panel, on view all weekend Krause Recital Hall, 37 Main St, Narrowsburg - A program of experimental short films, featuring work by Evie McKenna, Erik Sanner, Kisa Li, Maureen Brookes, Elizabeth A Ennis, and Josh Weissbach. Free entry.
BEFF Ignites: Health/Care 7pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg. An evening dedicated to short films lifting up the stories of caregivers and rural healthcare, followed by a community conversation lead by Chris Dickey, NYU School of Global Health, Sullivan Health Access, Inc.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH
Make An Impact: Black LP (2026) + Sala (2026) 3pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg
Two documentaries that highlight the power of honoring our shared humanity. We will be joined by filmmakers from both films for a Q&A after the screenings.
Bob and David Climb Machu Picchu (2026) 7pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg
A high-altitude meditation on friendship, mortality, and profoundly absurd comedy. After the film we will be hosting a Q&A with director, Michael LaHaie (in-person), and Bob Odenkirk (virtually).
Opening Night Party 9pm Cochecton Pump House, 7895 NY-97, Cochecton Dress to impress at our opening night extravaganza! Shorts: This May Surprise You 10am Narrowsburg Union, 7 Erie Ave, Narrowsburg. A shorts program of boundary-pushing filmmakers with a sharp, curious eye for the world hiding in plain sight. Featuring the work of Erfan Farhadi, Michael León, Nishka Nanani, Charlotte Bydwell, Corey Allen, Ethan Knecht.
Acting Workshop and Q&A with Neil LaBute 10:30am The 108, 108 Main St, Narrowsburg
Neil LaBute (Murderous, In the Company of Men, Nurse Betty) will work with a small cohort of actors, (including Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Ken Leung (Industry), Gia Crovatin (Murderous), on an as yet unpublished piece of his own material demonstrating the actor/director working relationship.
Cookie Queens (2026) 12:00pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg, NY. This heart-warming documentary is a coming-of-age story about the joys, pressures, and pain points woven into one of America’s most cherished rituals: Girl Scout Cookie season.

A program of short films that find the mythic, the unseen, outsiders, and the profound in rural life and landscape, followed by a filmmaker talkback. Featuring work by Ramona Jan, Gabriel Taylor, Clayton Dean Smith, Tim Kirkman and Andre Robert Lee, Ava Berkofsky, Jacob Tyler DiNobile, Taliesin Black-Brown.
If I Go Will They Miss Me? (2026) 2:00pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg. A breathtaking father-son story about imagination, family, and the grace we extend to the people we love. In the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, twelve-year-old Lil Ant sees the world and his father the way all children should — full of myth, wonder, and unwavering belief.
Árru (2026) 4:00pm Narrowsburg Union, 7 Erie Ave, Narrowsburg. When a proposed copper mine threatens the land and livelihood of reindeer herder Maia and her Sámi community, the arrival of a politically powerful uncle brings up long-buried trauma in this lyrical musical-drama.

Murderous (2026) 7:30pm Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St, Narrowsburg. The new thriller from writer/director Neil LaBute is by turns chilling, funny and deadly, a spine-tingling chamber piece in the tradition of Rope, Dial ‘M’ for Murder and Sleuth. Director, Neil Labute, and lead actress, Gia Crovatin, will join for a Q&A after the film.
