WARWICK – The 2026 OCIAA Track & Field Championships have concluded. The two-day meet featured bright sunny weather- a stark contrast to Wednesday’s cold and rainy Donna Deppa Invitational in Jeffersonville earlier that week.

Seven of Sullivan County’s finest student-athletes have joined the New York State high school rankings. Tyiese Mack of Fallsburg, Gabriela Almonte of Monticello, Tri-Valley put four athletes in the NYS rankings: Anna Furman, Sophia Richardson, JoHanna Clarke, and Paityn Closs, and Sullivan West’s Gracyn Halloran. The competitive field pushed dozens of competitors to achieve lifetime personal records and new season bests. Jewelz Shaw (27.70) and Adam Koenig (29.34) of Eldred clocked personal bests in the boys unseeded 200 mtr alongside Brody Day (27.23) of Rockland. Helen Vasquez of Fallsburg finished with a 1:17.47 in the 400 mtr.

In the field Tri-Valley’s Kane Poje stood head and shoulders above the competition in the boys shot put, throwing a 57-09, more than six inches ahead of the second place finisher from powerhouse Monroe-Woodbury, and Monticello’s Senecere Wall-Thomas shattered the discus competition- his throw landing more than five inches ahead of Justin Reich from Monroe-Woodbury. The Liberty Redhawks’ girls 4x100 relay team brought their A-game to the track running into second place in the finals at 51.07. The Pentathlon competition was stiff, and tests the true endurance of an athlete. Tabitha Smith of Eldred, Liberty’s Peyton Rivera, and Logan Weyant, and Paxton Mead of Tri-Valley all finished within the top four spots in a single event. Sullivan West’s Rozalyn Passante brought home a commanding first place finish in the girls javelin with a throw of 83-00. This is Passante’s first year competing at the championships and her first season on the track team. Teammate Dylan Lockwood secured a silver medal in the javelin with a throw of 126-01.

All qualifiers will head to sectionals next week on Wednesday, May 27 at

Monroe-Woodbury High School and Friday May 29 at Rondout Valley High School.
