LIVINGSTON MANOR – The 3rd Annual Livingston Manor Turkey “Trout” 5K & 1-Mile Walk/Run will bring together the Livingston Manor and surrounding communities November 28, 11am the weekend following Thanksgiving for a morning of exercise, fresh air, and generosity. The event is Co-Sponsored by the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce.

Participants will register and pick up their race packets and bibs at CAS. The race will begin at Renaissance Park. Participants will run or walk down Main Street, take a right onto Creamery Road, turn around under the iconic covered bridge, and return to Renaissance Park to finish the race. An awards ceremony will follow at a local business.

All event proceeds will be donated to The Sullivan County Animal Shelter located in Rock Hill, New York. The Sullivan County Animal Shelter has been in operation for 70 years. They are an independent not-for-profit "no-kill" animal rescue organization, not affiliated with the National ASPCA. This vital organization focuses on finding quality forever homes for adoptable animals, promoting spay/neutering and education, and providing medical care and shelter for animals in need. 

Last year’s race was a resounding success. By the numbers, the race attracted 330 participants, raised over $27,000 for the Sullivan County SPCA, which allowed the shelter to rescue 60 dogs and puppies and 45 cats and kittens; upgrade their outdoor show kennels; make much needed renovations inside the shelter; and much more. The race brought hundreds of participants and spectators into Livingston Manor on Small Business Saturday. In post-race surveys, 95% of participants stated they patronized a local business after participating and 40% stayed at hotels or home rentals. Additionally, over 60% of participants stated they spent over $50, with 25% spending over $200 in town following the event. 

400 walkers and runners are expected. (Note that this might change as the race gets closer and the Board will be updated with registration numbers.) All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate; a 1-Mile race was introduced this year to encourage additional participants. Race start time: 11am, Setup start time: 8am, Race end time: 1:30pm, Cleanup complete: 3pm.
