MILFORD - A generous gift of land is helping to protect one of the community’s most precious natural resources - the local aquifer serving the Milford community. The 5.81-acre property located at the corner of Route 6 and Buist Road, was thoughtfully donated to the Milford Water Authority by the Davis R. Chant family in his memory, ensuring this important land and vital landscape will be preserved and protected for generations to come.
On Monday, August 24, 2026, family and community members gathered for a heartfelt dedication ceremony to honor Davis R. Chant’s memory and celebrate this meaningful donation. Among those in attendance were Judy Chant, Holley Chant and Tamara Chant; Commissioners Ron Schmalzle and Matt Osterberg; Milford Water Authority Plant Supervisor Nick May; Executive Director of Milford Community Foundation, Rick Little; Carly Longhenry and Lorraine Collins of Davis R. Chant, Realtors; Glenn Khoury of Encore Outdoor Advertising who managed the sign project; Jim Pedranti and Roseann Kalish.
Davis R. Chant remains a deeply respected and much-loved figure in Milford, remembered fondly for his quiet generosity and genuine commitment to helping others. Throughout his life, he gently found ways to give back to the community he cared for so deeply. His gift serves as a touching reminder that the most meaningful legacies are often built through quiet acts of kindness, careful stewardship, and a sincere desire to leave the world a little better than we found it.
A special thanks to John Duke Schneider, Esq. for his constant, expert guidance and coordination of all aspects of the estate donation, Paul Golobrodskiy of Platinum Landscape Solutions for the ceremony landscaping and future tree plantings, Fran Stoveken of Sequoia Tree Service for removing dead trees; Dingman Township and Milford Water Authority Officials for their cooperation and guidance for this project.
