A New “Old” Dove Takes Flight in Swan Lake

Posted

Dove No. 9, part of the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association’s dove trail project, was donated to the Swan Lake community by Cas and Lori of Casa di Longobardi when they relocated their restaurant from Swan Lake to Sullivan Avenue in Liberty. An unveiling was held on July 26th.

Artist Deborah Palmarini beautifully incorporated many aspects of Swan Lake’s rich history into the dove, including the Borscht Belt era, the 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair, and other elements that celebrate the hamlet’s unique heritage.

Deborah generously volunteered her time and artistic talent to transform the dove into a vibrant work of public art. The finished dove beautifully reflects the history, diversity, and spirit of Swan Lake—a community that honors its past while looking toward the future.
