Angela Fremont Open Studio at Upstate Art Weekend

Posted

NORTH BRANCH – After 32 years upstate, Angela Fremont finally finished building her standalone studio and opened it to the public last year for the first time.

This year, she will be sharing not only her ceramic sculptures, but a series of bright newly finished paintings on the theme of mothers and children. Fremont says “No one really understands how difficult the going is for both mothers AND children. As an artist, art educator of over 30 years, and a mother, I have given a lot of thought to the challenges both face separately and as family members. I hope my work is both sympathetic and raises questions for the viewer.”

Fremont holds a BA with a concentration in painting from NYU and a Masters from SUNY New Paltz with a concentration in ceramics.

“My work as an artist and art educator is intimately tied to each other. One seems to feed the other.” The open studio will have a table of art making for young artists, and the first 100 visitors will receive a free zine that Fremont has made for the two-day event – July 19-20 from 11am-6pm at 293 North Branch Callicoon Center Road, North Branch.
