Apple Pie Palooza raises funds for Radio Catskill

Posted

Over 150 people gathered to celebrate the crispness of autumn and apples and to raise money for WJFF Radio Catskill at the annual “Apple Pie Palooza” last Saturday in Livingston Manor.

The event was held at Catskill Brewery, where a festive scene was created with music, beer, a food truck, a live DJ, and of course, apple pie.

A tent was raised out on the deck to house the six eager contestants’ baked creations as well as a host of various delicious apple pies and products as well as WJFF swag for sale to benefit the local station.

A panel of four volunteer judges scored the baked goods based on flavor, crust, and appearance. The proud winner of the apple trophy and a $100 gift card from Catskill Brewery was Livingston Manor’s own Robin Almquist. When queried for her secret ingredient, she revealed that “it’s always about the butter.”

According to Radio Catskill Development and Operations manager Mimi Bradley, over $2,000 was raised at the successful event.
