Small Works Exhibition now in its 21st Year

NARROWSBURG—The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) in Narrowsburg is hard at work preparing for its eagerly-awaited, annual small works group exhibition, “Art in Sixes.” This treasured local tradition, now in its 21st year, showcases hundreds of tiny works by local artists in a dizzying display that takes over every wall across both floors of DVAA’s galleries.

“‘Art in Sixes’ is the perfect entry into the holiday season – it brings together all the communities DVAA serves amidst the warm glow of  6-inch by 6-inch gems that cover every wall of DVAA. From our young future art masters to our region’s revered artistic talents, this annual tradition truly celebrates the creativity that makes the Sullivan Catskills and Upper Delaware Valley Region so special,” says Ariel Shanberg, DVAA Executive Director.

SUPPORTING ARTISTS

Each original artwork measures 6 inches or less in any direction and is priced between $60 and $600, perfect for unique holiday gifting. You will find diverse artworks, from drawings, paintings, photographs, printmaking, sculptures, and ceramics to woodwork, fiber arts, collage, and more. Your art purchase adds to your collection and directly supports the artists and DVAA.

OPENING RECEPTION

The community is invited to the opening reception on Saturday, November 15th, from 3 pm to 6 pm. The event is known for its electric atmosphere, where art enthusiasts and artists shmooze over wine and food while supporting their local art scene by snapping up their favorite pieces. By the end of the event, the exhibition is usually awash in distinctive red dots, marking pieces as SOLD.

KIDS MAKE SIXES

Be sure to check out the youth corridor displaying artworks by the next generation of artists. DVAA once again invited local school children to participate in “Art in Sixes” and hosted several drop-in art-making programs at DVAA led by teaching artist, Adrienne Hloderwski. The program was a resounding success with attracting artworks from 50+ young people in Sullivan County, NY, and Wayne and Pike Counties, PA. Art supplies for Kids Make Sixes were generously donated by BLICK Art Materials.

GALLERY HOURS

“Art in Sixes” will be on view at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, 37 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY, from Saturday, November 15th, through Sunday, December 21st.  Gallery hours will be Thursday - 11am - 4pm, Friday – 11am – 6pm, Saturday – 11am – 6pm, Sunday – 11am - 4pm, and by appointment. The gallery will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
