Art Program, “Picasso Was Right!” Fosters Creativity in Children

NARROWSBURG – All summer long, all across Sullivan County, the “Picasso Was Right!” series of events celebrated the idea that the most meaningful art is often created by children: simple yet profound, fragile yet resilient, innocent yet wonderfully rebellious.

Drawing inspiration from legendary artist Pablo Picasso, the project embraces his famous insight: “It took me a lifetime to learn to paint like a child.” While some might view Picasso’s work and say, “a child could have done that,” Picasso himself would have considered that the highest of praise.

The grand finale reception at the Krause Recital Hall at Delaware Valley Arts Alliance Gallery in Narrowsburg, NY will showcase the artwork created by children and teens up to age 16.  Complimentary refreshments, great art, and the chance to meet the artists themselves at their first official “opening night” on September 4, from 3-5 PM.

This event was made possible with the support of the Western Sullivan Public Library, Ethelbert B Crawford Public Library, Sunshine Hall Public Library, and funding from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
