Just a slight turn off Scenic 97, you’ve likely been to Pete’s shopping center on Kirks Road in Narrowsburg. Situated at the end of the strip is where you’ll find the Atomic Laundromat -Open 24 hours, 7 days a week!

This longstanding laundromat has evolved throughout the years with different owners, each providing their own spin (no pun intended!) The torch was passed in January 2020 from beloved Tom and Cecilia Coacci to now current owner Stephen Gregoretti.

A brief history:

Steve comes from a self-employed family who owned a small grocery store started by his grandfather in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He too, worked there as a young boy alongside his father and brothers. In 1977, their shop greatly suffered due to the historic blackout. The Gregoretti’s saw the need to transition into a new business idea - born out of necessity, the family then opened a laundromat on Long Island.

At age 16, Steve was handed the keys to begin running his father’s laundromat - this is where he found his true passion. In addition to coin operated laundromats, Steve has provided many commercial laundry services; working with hotels, restaurants, uniforms, and home delivery. He takes great pride in his extensive resume - and with over 45 years of experience in the industry, he still loves what he does!

What makes Narrowsburg’s laundromat special?

Atomic Laundromat features new coin-operated washers and dryers. Two change machines on site are available to provide plenty of quarters. The facility also includes a bathroom for its customers, as well as television, seating, new laundry carts, and four large folding tables. To help keep folks comfortable, the store is air conditioned. As a matter of fact, a second unit was recently installed to better regulate the temperature.

Being in a cleaning business, cleanliness is one of Steve’s top priorities. He adjusted all the equipment settings to supply more water, hotter water temperatures, longer wash times, and increased dryer time - in order to ensure cleaner clothes for his customers. Steve is grateful for a local woman Mary, who he employed to care for the store daily. Thanks to Mary, the machines are always sparkling, the floors, folding tables, and bathroom are all cleaned like clockwork.

Steve is a firm believer in “reinvesting into your business” just as his father taught him. He is consistently keeping up on maintenance and making improvements big or small in order to keep the store inviting and enjoyable. But his plans don’t stop there! Steve still has more ideas on how he can continue adapting to his customers needs and improve their experience. Included in his plans is a new Honesdale laundromat coming soon to Route 6.

“We are extremely thankful for all of our customers and always looking to provide the best value and service possible” says Steve. He invites you to check out Atomic Laundromat and hopes you are delighted by your experience. Open 24/7, you can visit any time at 100 Kirks Road Narrowsburg (845)-276-3385.
