SMALLWOOD – Hold the date for an important public forum.
When? July 19
What time? Begins 10:30am and depending on the number of candidates, should end by approximately 12:00pm.
Where? Smallwood Civic Association Lodge: 302 Pine Grove Road, Smallwood.
Who is invited to participate in the forum? Candidates who will appear on the ballot for Bethel voters in the November, 2025 election.
Who is invited to attend? The forum is open to residents of the Town of Bethel.
Why should you attend? Voting is important and your vote matters. The SWCA and the Hamlet of Smallwood face some serious and pressing issues regarding both the sustainability and long-term protection of Mountain Lake and land use and zoning issues regarding future growth of the town. This forum is an opportunity – and part of a long tradition – for Smallwood Civic Association members to meet and take the measure of those who seek to represent us in local and county-wide government.
How will the forum be conducted? All candidates will be contacted in advance of the forum and depending on which position they are seeking, will be sent a set of prompts (questions and/or concerns) to address during the time they have the floor to introduce themselves. How candidates respond to the prompts and the degree to which they do so, is up to them, but they will know in advance what is generally on the minds of members of the Smallwood Civic Association as well as the residents of the Hamlet of Smallwood, and the Town of Bethel.
While the format described above is not a Q & A, candidates will be encouraged to remain after the conclusion of the forum to meet, greet, and answer questions that people may have.
