My husband and I recently bought a new home, and have been hosting our friends and family frequently over the past month. I’ve been making my standard charcuterie plates for people to nosh on, but I wanted to switch it up. This baked brie dish is quite honestly the simplest appetizer I have ever made, and will be sure to impress guests. I recently was gifted a small, shallow baking dish by Le Creuset to place the brie in, and I suggest this type of dish so that guests don’t burn their fingers trying to scoop the cheese out. Don’t have one? Just place on parchment!
Ingredients:
1 wheel of brie cheese (about 8 ounces)
2 tablespoons of your favorite jam, preserves, or honey ( I used homemade elderberry jam)
2 sprigs rosemary or thyme
¼ cups chopped nuts (optional)
Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the wheel of brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a small oven-safe dish. Drizzle your favorite jam, preserves, or honey over the top of the brie. If you like a crunch, you can also sprinkle 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts as well as your herbs. Place the brie in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and melty. You can test this by placing a toothpick into the center, and melted cheese should stick to it. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with crackers or sliced baguette. I promise you and your guests will love this!
