Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Honors Spirit of ’69 with Woodstock Anniversary Week 2025 Celebration

BETHEL – This August, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the award-winning historic site of the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair and music venue, invites the public to experience Woodstock Anniversary Week 2025, a four-day immersive tribute to peace, music, and cultural memory from August 12 through 15.

This year’s celebration will be anchored by legendary photographer Elliott Landy, whose iconic images captured the soul of Woodstock. Landy will headline a series of exclusive talks, multimedia presentations, and a formal dinner experience, sharing rare insights and behind-the-scenes stories from the original festival.

“We are thrilled to once again celebrate that legendary weekend, 56 years ago,” said Dr. Neal V.  Hitch, Senior Curator at the Museum at Bethel Woods. “This isn’t just about nostalgia and history, it’s about carrying the Woodstock spirit forward through music, dialogue, and a shared vision for peace. At Bethel Woods, we are honored to save space every August for anniversary week.”

The week features a rich tapestry of experiences, generously supported by Robyn Gerry:

• Tuesday, August 12 opens with Sharing Stillness, a guided wellness practice led by Landy, followed by Photos from the Scaffolding, an informal talk about his Woodstock experience. A community welcome reception unveils the iconic “No Hippies” sign, an artifact donated by Ted Galloway, and culminates in Woodstock Vision, a ticketed dinner and storytelling evening featuring music by original Woodstock artists.

• Wednesday, August 13 focuses on the power of music and media to shape civic engagement, including the Braver Angels Songwriting for Dialogue workshop, the film Last Seat in the House with a Q&A from filmmaker John Kane and original Woodstock soundman Bill Hanley, and a musical happy hour headlined by Juma Sultan, Hendrix’s 1969 percussionist. The evening ends with The Ember Sessions Part 2, a multi-artist campfire concert.

• Thursday, August 14 emphasizes action and legacy through Consider Peace 2025, a series of keynotes, film discussions, and the Purple Path brainstorming session to co-create a permanent peace walk on site. The evening features a ticketed performance by Dark Star Orchestra, followed by an open mic Campfire Jam under the stars.

For those interested in having the full Woodstock experience, Bethel Woods offers on-site camping at throwback prices exclusively for Anniversary Week registrants: tent camping is just $19.69 per night, with RV and basic glamping at $69 per night. Registered guests will enjoy exclusive pop-up creative happenings and behind-the-scenes tours throughout the week.
