Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip

Football season and Buffalo chicken dip go hand-in-hand. I first learned how to make this recipe while in college living in Rochester, and more than a decade later it remains one of the most requested appetizers I bring to parties and family gatherings. It delivers all the flavors people love about chicken wings, spicy Buffalo sauce, tender chicken, creamy blue cheese, and melted cheddar cheese, without the mess of sticky fingers and extra napkins.

It's so simple to make that several friends I've shared it with now make it regularly for their own parties. Just be warned: it disappears fast, so you may want to make a double batch!

Ingredients

  • 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup Frank's RedHot Sauce or Frank's Wing Sauce
  • 1 cup chunky blue cheese dressing (I prefer Ken's)
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm the cream cheese for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally until softened and smooth.
  2. Stir in the Buffalo sauce, shredded chicken, and blue cheese dressing until well combined.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly into a small baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or toasted bread slices.

This Buffalo Chicken Dip is the perfect addition to any football watch party, holiday gathering, or casual get-together. One bite and it's easy to see why it's remained a favorite in my recipe collection for more than ten years. Go Bills!
