CALLICOON – As the old saying goes for the new year: “out with the old, in with the new”. As the new year gets underway, many residents are already settling into their 2026 resolutions, focusing on everything from health and family to small changes at home.

With that in mind, the Democrat took a walk down the block to check in with a few faces around Callicoon to see what goals they’re setting for the year ahead.

Sullivan County Democrat Staff Writer Vincent Kurzrock is setting his resolutions towards self-betterment and widening his creative boundaries through scenic photography and getting to meet more people.

“I’m always looking for the perfect shot,” stated Kurzrock. “Be it either a pretty sunset off one of Sullivan County’s many scenic overlooks, or just my brother’s cat Obi. He’s very photogenic and I can never have enough pictures of him.”

Kurzrock looked back on 2025 and how he was able to meet, talk and reunite with so many Sullivan County officials across the aisle such as NY-19 Congressman Josh Riley and New York Senator Peter Oberacker through his many in-the-field ventures for the first time.

“I’ve met so many great people this past year, and it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know them and working with them,” Kurzrock stated. “I hope that continues going strong this year.”

Whether it’s prioritizing family, personal well-being, or freshening up a living space, Callicoon residents are stepping into 2026 with clear intentions and a positive outlook.
