ELLENVILLE – Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster will be hosting a Pop-Up Food Pantry in Ellenville on Monday, April 21. The Pop-Up Pantry is part of Catholic Charities’ feeding our neighbors initiative and is open to community members who need assistance with food, regardless of a person’s religion.

The Pop-Up Pantry will be set up in the parking lot at St. Mary’s and St. Andrew’s Church located at 139 S. Main Street in Ellenville. Distribution will begin at 10am and run until supplies run out  or 2pm. There is no registration needed, and food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bags. The distribution will be held rain or shine.

“Hunger and food insecurity are real and growing issues for the people we serve,” said Cristina Saito, Director of Social and Human Services at Catholic Charities. “The rising cost of food and other basic human needs, like housing and utilities, are increasing demand for food pantry services. We hope that by bringing the Pop-Up Pantry to the heart of the community, the people we serve will be able to make limited budgets stretch a little further,” said Saito.

In addition to food distribution, the Pop-Up Pantry will include access to other community resources, such as rental assistance, insurance services, and substance use prevention and harm reduction supplies.

Volunteer help is being sought to assist with the food distribution. There are multiple shifts available between 7:50am and 2:30pm. Tasks will include unloading the delivery truck, sorting, and packing supplies, and distributing food to guests. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up online at https://tinyurl.com/CCPopUpEllenville42125. Community service letters can be provided.

To support Catholic Charities’ initiatives to feed our neighbors, monetary donations may be made securely online at www.cccsos.org/donate-now or by mailing donations to Catholic Charities Office of Advancement, 27 Matthews Street, Goshen, NY 10924.
