CCE Sullivan is now offering Bone Builders exercise classes

LIBERTY – BONE BUILDERS is an exercise program designed to help individuals aged 65+ maintain bone mass and build on existing bone mass but is open to anyone concerned about their health as they age. Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for more than 44 million Americans, 80% of whom are women. A “silent disease,” bone loss usually occurs without symptoms. People may not know they have osteoporosis until their bones become so fragile that a fracture occurs.

This program will feature light exercises with hand weights with instruction provided by our two trained Cornell Cooperative Extension Volunteers, Joy Mendelsohn, MD and Linda Siegel. Bring a water bottle, floor mat or towel, and your own 1-2 lb. weights and invest in your health!

The first program will take place weekly on Thursdays 11 am - 12 pm, from March 19 – May 21 at the Western Sullivan Public Library - 19 Center St., Jeffersonville in the Community Room. A second series of classes will begin on Thursdays from 11-12pm, from March 26 - May 7 at the Extension Education Center located at 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd., Liberty, NY 12754.

Class size is limited, and you may only register for one of these locations by going to tinyurl.com/5n6mtpy4, or www.sullivancce.org/events, or by calling the Caregiver Resource Center at 845-292-6180 ext. 122 or emailing sullivancrc@cornell.edu.
