LIBERTY — Farmers, livestock owners, and agricultural community members are invited to attend two upcoming educational webinars this February focused on livestock management and soil health. These evening programs provide practical, research-based information designed to support resilient and productive farm operations.

The first webinar, Livestock Weather Stress: Hot or Cold, will be held on February 12 from 6:00–7:30 PM. This program will help producers understand how livestock respond to extreme temperatures and what management strategies can protect animal health and productivity. Topics include how animals regulate body temperature through behavior, metabolism, and physiology; why heat stress can reduce fertility and milk production; how cold stress increases feed requirements and energy loss; species-specific differences among cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs; and climate-related challenges facing modern livestock systems.

The second webinar, Understanding Cover Crops for Farms, will take place on February 26 from 6:00–7:30 PM. This session will focus on improving participants’ understanding of cover crops and their role in enriching soil and strengthening farm systems. Attendees will learn how cover crops improve soil health, enhance nutrient cycling, support on-farm resilience, identify key cover crop species, evaluate their functions, and develop effective management plans.

Both programs are well suited for experienced farmers, beginning producers, agricultural students, and anyone interested in science-based agricultural education. To register for either program, please visit our events page at www.sullivancce.org/events.
